About ExcelCleansing

ExcelCleansing exists to fix one specific problem: messy spreadsheets that take an hour to clean by hand. Whether your file came out of an accounting export, an ERP report, a PDF roundtrip, or a copy-paste from a website, it probably has at least one of these problems —

• Merged cells that look like data spans every row but actually leave most cells blank, silently breaking sorting, filtering, and Pivot Tables.
• Invisible “ghost” characters (non-breaking spaces, zero-width characters, control codes) that make VLOOKUP silently miss rows that should match.
• Stray columns and footnotes scattered around the real data.
• Misplaced headers sitting above the wrong column.
• Empty rows, empty columns, and styled-but-empty “ghost cells” that bloat the file and break analysis.

ExcelCleansing fixes all of these in one click — and does it entirely in your browser. The file you upload is read, processed, and written without ever leaving your machine. No server, no account, no upload, no telemetry.

Why client-side?

Excel files often contain sensitive data — financials, HR records, customer lists, internal reports. Sending them to a third-party cleanup service is a privacy and compliance risk most teams can't take. By running the entire pipeline in your browser, ExcelCleansing avoids that risk entirely. You can disconnect your internet after the page loads and the tool still works.
